14 Jun Bachelor thoughts….
A friend recently said to me that winter isn’t always harsh and miserable. There are many things one can do to entertain themselves. Lets face it, its a good six months of heavy coats, hats, wool scarves, fire places and indoor activities. One can get a little bit anxious towards the end and its like well bring on the warmth already. But winter, for some, brings a new meaning. Lets call my friend Mr Brown. He mentioned that winter was a time of hibernating, looking after his health and fitness ( after the boozy summer parties and events) and it his opportunity to find a nice girl and ‘shack up’ for a few months. He mentioned that winter he goes out less so his chance of meeting girls is less. So he always has a ‘seasonal plan’. He would mix and mingle during the summer and spring months and makes sure he meets someone that he can liaise with in the colder months. He travels bio annually so that takes care of that every other year but when he is based locally and doesn’t have an big trips planned he finds a girl he likes and he keeps warm during the winter. I was a little taken back. Its like he had it all figured out. Was there a year that he missed? I asked him. he replied ‘Like about 10 years ago’. So this coming from the mouth and life of a bachelor about town. One who is well educated, established in work and financially, is a really great guy and has personality. He literally has his cake and eat it too. But how long is too long for a bachelor to live this life? Do we all assume that they want to settle down? Maybe they don’t want to settle. But they want to meet girls that they want to ride along with. I couldn’t help but think though as I was talking to him. Do they ever get tired of the same kind of life? Do they ever feel lonely? Do some men live like bachelors, act like bachelors and fit the profile in every sense but do they really just want stability and someone to truly love. It is not easy. Infact this thing called love can be hard for both men and women. I wondered about Mr Brown and if he ever craved real love. Maybe so. I also said to him that one day love would hit him in the face without warning. As most times it does. He laughed and replied maybe? So maybe bachelors are possibly up for love, they probably aren’t equipped and ready for the work and investment that love needs of them. But hey, you have to give life a try. It might just surprise them. For the right woman I think they will.
