25 Oct Excuses Excuses….
Over coffee one morning a two friends caught up on what has been happening in their lives on the dating front. It was amazing as they had both experienced similar situations. “What is it with men and their excuses?” one asked. She begun to elaborate her current situation. She has been on and off with this guy for a little while and slowly but surely the ‘real him’ began to surface. On a dinner catch up one night he began to tell her all that was ‘wrong’ with their relationship and why it would never work. He felt the need to nit pick every little thing that bothered him. You fidget with your hair, you always press your lips and.. ( the piece a résistance) you don’t cook like my mother. Your cooking is not that good. That stopped her friend form taking another sip of her coffee. “What!” she exclaimed. It gets better. The one time she did cook for him he was 1 hour late and that is why the meal didn’t taste the same as it had to be warmed up. Two things. Firstly a real man would never keep a lady waiting. Especially when he knows she is preparing something for him and making an effort. Two, you call and be courteous if you are late, rather than text on my way. If a man cant respect your time then he doesn’t deserve your time. Simples. A man would not pick at all the things that a wrong. They would speak respectfully and end the courtship with some tact and dignity. We have all heard excuses before. ‘ Sorry , got held up, sorry my phone died, sorry cant do it tomorrow because…..’. You have to hand it to them. Men try to get out of things with the best excuses. A women knows, we are just being observant and test the waters until the light bulb switches on and we get it. To top it off he felt the family wouldn’t approve as she was a few years older. ( has this guy been living under a rock?…oh sorry, pretty close, he has been spoon fed since birth by his mother)
After she digested the cooking part her friend began to explain that it had nothing to do with her at all. It is a reflection on him and his level of maturity and intelligence. If he loves mummy’s cooking so much them move back home. No girl is going to compete with a boys mother. He has self esteem issues, is looking for perfection ( which doesn’t exsist) and seeks the approval of his family rather than be content with himself and his choices. Is he a man ,No. A boy, Yes. Suffice to say his number was deleted off her phone. The girls had a laugh and wondered why men came up with excuses. Women would rather a man to, well….just man up really.
